The London Australian Film Society and the Foundation for Australian and New Zealand Arts (FANZA) present the 2nd annual ANZ Film Festival at Finsbury Park Picturehouse, on the weekend between Australia Day and Waitangi Day.
Warm up your Sunday night with magnetic coming of age drama HEAD SOUTH. Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes, The Butterfly Tree, Nugget is Dead) stars as Angus, a shy teen who navigates friendships, first loves, self-doubt, and family tragedy whilst finding his feet amid the burgeoning post-punk scene of late 1970s Christchurch.
An irreverent visual style from Trans-Tasman filmmaker and music video director Jonathan Ogilvie, is perfectly matched by original music from Straitjacket Fits frontman Shayne Carter and a choice selection of post-punk classics.
Gloriously evocative of NZ’s South Island music scene, this nostalgic, semi-autobiographical tale is a marvellous tribute to spiky hair, jangly guitars, misspent youth - and fits perfectly with the current tween trend for all things analog.
